A Spring surprise

I discovered last week that a tiny bird has chosen my front door decor as a lovely place to raise his tiny family. Wifey bird is brown-speckled, bright-eyed and does not trust me at all. I think they're house finches, but can't get a glimpse of Daddy bird to see if he's got his orangey red head. The eggs are white and the size of jelly beans.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

  1. How appropriate...jelly-bean-sized-eggs! Enjoy the bird watching, but don't be surprised if something like this results:

    Gave me such a fright!

  2. They've hatched! So thought they would be non-starters. Two fuzzy little heads so far, but with six eggs, I'm really hoping for no ugly discoveries on the front step when they all hatch. Nature is a harsh teacher!

Will post new drawings if I don't bug Mama House Finch too much.
